It’s hard to imagine that school is just around the corner. Already the Executive Board for Stadium Boosters has had their first meeting and set the budget for the coming year. Our goals are lofty and we need the support of Stadium parents to help us achieve them.
Several of our board members this year are Senior parents so an immediate need we have is to identify new parents interested in joining Boosters that can fill these roles next year. We would love to start the knowledge sharing process right away so that there isn’t a lot to learn when they graduate out. It doesn’t take up a lot of time or work when you are prepared going in!
Something new this year is our Link Parents group that promises to be a great resource for Freshman parents or those that just want a person to reach out to with questions about Stadium. If you are a Freshman parent, or know any that would benefit from this program, please let us know. You don’t have to actually do anything, we will just provide you with a name and contact information for a Link Parent that can help with questions throughout the year. Send your contact information to stadiumboosters@gmail.com with ParentLink in the subject line and we will be sure you are contacted as soon as we can. If you are a parent interested in being a Link Parent, please email our Vice President, Saundra Coffen at scoffen@msn.com for more details.
Even though it is only August, we need to get moving on our big fundraiser(s) for the coming year. Our annual goal is roughly $40,000 so if you think you’ve got great ideas for a Stadium community fundraiser, please come to our planning meeting later this month. If you are interested in joining the fundraising committee or just want to share your thoughts, please email stadiumboosters@gmail.com and we’ll let you know when the first meeting will be.
Our Grad Night parents are selling great t-shirts (10 Things I Love about Stadium) so watch for those at Tiger Days. They are available for $15 and proceeds will help off-set the cost of Grad Night for our 2011 Seniors. The shirts are for anyone that wants one, not just Seniors.
We will also be needing volunteers to work concessions at Football games this fall. If you know you are intersted right now, please email us with dates you can (or can’t) work and we will start pulling the schedule together. Please use the stadiumboosters@gmail.com address for now or you can find a link to our Concession Chair on the About Us or Contact tab.
Finally, we are looking for parents of all Stadium groups to help us with our communication effort. Ideally we would love to have each sport or group have one representative to either run a Facebook page and “friend” us or work with our webmaster to set up a website that will link to this site. It has been a great way to keep up on other activities at Stadium and to try and get the word out to those that care. This is an ever evolving effort but as technology grows, we hope to find new and better ways to keep you informed.
Anyway, that was a lot of information so I’ll stop. Please watch this site for updates and opportunities to help out at Stadium. We are on Facebook (search for Stadium Bosoters) and we have an email listserve if you are interested in getting the weekly bulletin in your inbox (along with other news and information). Send an email to stadiumboosters@gmail.com or go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/stadiumboosters/ and click the blue button. You don’t have to be a Booster Member to join but we would love to have you!!
Last thing…watch for exciting news about the Centennial Celebration of the Stadium Bowl on September 17th & 18th. The weekend is packed full of fun activities for the whole family. Everyone is welcome!! There will be another Guiness Book of Records attempt – this time to rasie more food in a 24 hour period than anyone ever has. Tell your friends, families, coworkers, neighbors and anyone else you can think of. This should be a lot of fun!
Thanks and welcome back!
