Due to the recent re-schedule of the Stadium Booster Auction, we found that we had a few items that people might miss out on if we didn’t offer them up this Spring. Stadium Parking Spaces, Conduct the Band and Front Row Tickets to Graduation are online and up for bidding. Auction postponed –

Greetings Booster Supporters,

After careful consideration, we have decided to postpone our
fund-raising auction which was scheduled for this saturday evening. We
will hold an auction in October.

This event is our major source of income for the year. Due to low
tickets sales, we would not have been able to earn enough to meet our
goals.

Refunds will be sent to those who have purchased tickets.

If you would like to be involved in planning the fall event, please
contact me,

Booster Needs

Over the last four years I have been involved with Boosters because I care about what happens in the place that my child spends the greater portion of her day. I was amazed at the level of dedication and support that Boosters provided to the staff and students at Stadium High School and the amount of money that they were able to raise each year in order to do that. Since my first year with Boosters I have seen a troubling trend of that support erroding and the number of those interested in helping with boosters has dropped to very sad levels. We have an average of 10 members at our booster meetings each month and they are usually the same 10 people month after month. We have a board of five and three of them are graduating senior parents. This is a scary time for a club that has been around for more years than I know and has done a lot of good things. On Mother’s Day I thought it fitting to reach out there to all you parents and beg you to stay involved in the lives of your children. Just because they are in high school does not mean they don’t need you to be around. Just because this is high school does not mean we don’t still need to raise money and support our Stadium Family. Now, more than ever, our school needs parents to come and to do great things. Just show up to the meetings once a month and find out how you can help. We raise nearly $25,000 a year and support anyone at the school, not just the athletes, and you could have a say in that. Please consider Boosters next year as a worthy cause to support because if you don’t they may not be around.

Stadium savors a state championship

Mission accomplished for the Stadium boys’ soccer team.

The Tigers captured the school’s every first state title in boys soccer with a 1-0 victory over Lake Stevens in the Class 4A state championship match on Saturday.

The sun came out. The fans filled up the visitors’ side of the grand stands and erupted in a loud cheer as the final whistle blew at Harry E. Lang Stadium.

Coach John Baretta finally got his state title after 22 years of coaching at Stadium. The seniors, all 12 of them, finished their high school career with the best possible ending – posing with the state title trophy.

Baretta had issued a challenge to his players before the final. “I told my boys: ‘Do you want to be a good team or a great team?’ ”

And Stadium (19-1 and nationally ranked at No. 8 by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America), which as a school hadn’t won any kind of state titles since the 1959 boys’ basketball team, responded and erased all bad memories of the bitter quarterfinal loss of the 2009 state soccer tournament.

“It feels amazing,” senior forward Dylan Gaydosh said. “All the bad feelings are gone.”

Gaydosh, who also won a state title in 2008 with Bellarmine Prep, was one of six starters who missed last year’s quarterfinal when they attended a club tournament in Florida. This year only one player went.

“Today we clicked,” Gaydosh said. “It was a key moment.”

Gaydosh scored the only goal of the match in the 30th minute when he was in the middle of the goal box scramble where Lake Stevens’ goalkeeper Tanney Eney attempted to stop Gaydosh.

“I saw the keeper come out a little bit, “Gaydosh said, “and I finessed it around him.”

Stadium continued to pressure for another goal, never feeling totally at ease against the Vikings’ tall and physical players who had numerous of long throw-ins, but the Tigers defensive four and goalkeeper Ian Clark with his three saves notched the shutout, the fourth consecutive shutout for Stadium during the state tournament.

“The credit goes to our back four,” Baretta said after he had gotten a not-so-surprising shower from his players. A TV interview thwarted the players’ first attempt, so they impatiently waited their turn to soak their coach with water from the water jug and Baretta’s weary smile indicated he knew was coming.

“We did it,” Baretta said. “I’m very, very happy.”

Plus, Baretta had found a lucky penny heads up while walking outside Stadium High School while waiting for the bus before the match.

“It’s now going to be put away,” Baretta said.

Along with the state trophy which now belongs to the Tigers for a year.

“We do lose unbelievable players, we lose 12 seniors,” Baretta said. “But that was their goal and they succeeded and no one can take this away from them.”

Lake Stevens finished the season at 18-3-1.
